Tell me about your upper blepharoplasty

Following because I’m scheduled to have mine done next month. My droopy lids impair my vision 70% in one eye and 50% in the other so insurance will pay to lift the lid. Then I’ll pay $900 out of pocket to remove the excess skin and fat, which isn’t covered. I’m not sure I’d do this if it weren’t mostly covered by insurance. I get headaches and eye strain working on the computer and my field of view is terrible so it impacts my driving and ball sports. I’m pretty anxious about the recovery though and feel a bit sheepish about taking the leave from work.

Has anyone had experience with Dr. Mahoney at Wilmer Eye/JHU for this procedure?

Has anyone had this done when only one eye droops? My ophthalmologist suggested waiting to see if the other one starts drooping but it’s been years of very lopsided eyes. I’m nervous the bleph won’t be able to even them. I’m 44.

PP here and my eyes are pretty uneven. I’m hoping that by doing both, I’ll have a better chance at symmetry. I’ll report back in two months.

I took a week off of work but I was able to read my emails on my phone even in the first couple days. Recovery was much easier than expected, almost completely pain free. You could go out with dark glasses after a few days.

She did mine, too. So happy with the results.

Me too. She's the go to.

can eye twitching be related to just one eye drooping and a little excess skin (or ptosis?) at the crease above the eye?

It’s more likely due to stress
