Why are there still product shortages happening?

Navy ships distill their own water from seawater. An aircraft carrier would probably be overkill, but picking up a decommissioned destroyer or mine sweeper & putting it in your back yard sounds plausible.

I complained so much about almond milk being out of stock at Giant - the regular, non-flavored almond milk - on every store survey that they started putting up signs about “shortages” in the almond milk section. But I truly believe it was on Giant for not ordering correctly. Because the flavored almond milk was always in stock, and Wegmans would have regular almond milk in stock too, but Giant was always out of it.

The only thing giant can keep in stock is rotten fruits and vegetables especially avacados at $2 a piece.

Which is sad, because when I came to the DC area 15 years ago Giant was my go-to. I always found them a little more expensive than the bargain stores and I always found that Safeway had better deals, but they had everything and I could get my shopping done in one trip. Not so anymore. Now their stock is all over the place and the overall store environment is basically assuming everyone is out to get the store and stealing. It’s not welcoming.

Agree. I used to love Giant. Now it just sucks (for so many different reasons).

Toilet tissue and paper towels are ridiculously expensive. It's nothing but price gauging that began with Covid and now keeps going up every in day! I no longer have brand loyalty for coffee and many other products. I get whatever is on sale and I have started going to Walmart for some things. Kerry butter is a $1.00 cheaper there.

Blame higher prices on the manufacturer.

I am the pp was trying to be helpful, especially for someone who needs distilled water for health purposes, like me, since the stores around here don't care. Not sure how that's "smug."

A home water distiller can cost less than $60 on Amazon and takes up as much space as an instant pot. It's already paid for itself after 3 years for me and is still going strong.

If you enjoy running around to 4 or 5 different grocery stores in the DC area to find distilled water for your CPAP machine or sinus rinsing, be my guest. There is so much demand here, the stores are half the size of stores in other parts of the country, and they aren't stocked very well. I've had to move on and try different solutions.
