How would you live on that in this area? |
A high schooler is cheap, low quality childcare. If that’s what your kids are worth to you, go for it. It’s irrelevant to this conversation, though. |
Except it’s not low quality. She’s been with us over a year, drives DD to activities when needed, helps with homework and plays soccer and basketball with her in our yard/driveway. She’s also not trying to “ live” on what we pay her. It’s gas money for her car, or Starbucks money…. |
This is for date night of similar babysitting. This is usually extra funds for either a FT Nanny or a teen sitter, or college kid. None of which are using this money to pay their rent/mortgage hopefully. |
I used to live in DC but live just south of San Francisco now. We have a sitter for our 7 and 11 year old kids who is a teacher at their former preschool. I asked her rate and she told me $20 / hr. I pay her a little more ($22). Our girls’ favorite sitter though is 17 and I also pay her $20 because I want her to want to work for us. We rarely go out and $30 / hr would make a really expensive night! |
