$30 sitter rate for 2 kids?

This isn't North Dakota, but also this isn't that expensive a place to live. The most I've paid is $20 for three kids

A high schooler is cheap, low quality childcare. If that’s what your kids are worth to you, go for it. It’s irrelevant to this conversation, though.

Except it’s not low quality. She’s been with us over a year, drives DD to activities when needed, helps with homework and plays soccer and basketball with her in our yard/driveway.

She’s also not trying to “ live” on what we pay her. It’s gas money for her car, or Starbucks money….

This is for date night of similar babysitting. This is usually extra funds for either a FT Nanny or a teen sitter, or college kid. None of which are using this money to pay their rent/mortgage hopefully.

I used to live in DC but live just south of San Francisco now. We have a sitter for our 7 and 11 year old kids who is a teacher at their former preschool. I asked her rate and she told me $20 / hr. I pay her a little more ($22). Our girls’ favorite sitter though is 17 and I also pay her $20 because I want her to want to work for us. We rarely go out and $30 / hr would make a really expensive night!
