Husband pressuring breastfeeding

OP here. I’ve decided I will try it but will switch to formula if it doesn’t go well.

I'd tell him to shove off. The benefits of breastmilk are seriously overstated. It's great if you feel like doing it, but if you don't you are really not depriving your child. He needs to do some critical research.

I had an awful experience with breastfeeding DS. A combo of a tongue tie (him) and flat nipples (me) made for pretty painful nursing sessions. I also had two bouts of mastitis, which added to the misery. Using silicone nipple shields helped somewhat with the pain, but I never really got my supply up and ended up switching to formula completely at 4 months.

With DD, I tried again; had the same problem with a tongue tie, but this time I had my pumping equipment already set up and I had plenty of nipple shields. I was able to get to 6 months combo nursing-and-pumping before switching to formula. Now I am expecting #3 and I think I'll do the same... give it a try, as it might be easier (who knows, this kid might not have a tongue tie?) but NOT beat myself up if I can't make it work, and have absolutely no guilt at all about switching to formula if need be.

Good luck OP, with whatever you choose.

The OP of this thread is also the OP of this thread:

In the second thread, the OP already has two kids while in this one she is expecting her second. But, at least a fixation on eating is consistent.
