I would think it matters less ED. Tufts is a traditional safety and may reject more if they have a history of kids from a private not matriculating |
ED definitely has a higher acceptance rate (~25%) so seems reasonable to try. |
I like that saying that school name...TUFFFFTS. |
I know kids can be stubborn but I think he should retake to get the math score up. Sounds like he can get higher based on practice tests. |
In engineering? Women have MUCH higher chances! I thought everyone knew this. |
What is his ED2 plan? |
Yes. As with most colleges, the college wants to know that the college is popular for applying and also attending (from that school). |
What were his AP scores in the APs he’s taken already? |
That stat is three years old, and Tufts seems not to report ED numbers anymore. They do, however, trumped their declining overall acceptance rate, which leads one to suspect that the more recent ED acceptance rates are higher. |
Yes, this seems to be typical LAC strategy these days. |
5x3 snd 4x2 |
My kid did not accept the waitlist offer from Tufts. They got in RD to Boston College and accepted that offer. Good luck to your kid. I think they have an excellent chance if they ED to Tufts! Just make sure they have a couple of target schools that they are excited about. And don't let them fall in love with one school. |
Test optional doesn’t go well with engineering where they will want to see the math chops to succeed. His current scores are better than not submitting at all, but a higher math score would be better. Track record at high school matters for all selective colleges, not just Tufts. |
Hadn’t decided yet-some on his list are 3 2 programs at slacs and he’s deciding between those and bigger schools with engineering. |
These are below average extracurriculars these days. Tufts is a school that is much easier to get into ED1 so I wouldn’t waste that shot, but it isn’t a guaranteed acceptance. He certainly has a decent chance. |
