I don’t like that attending the Eras Tour has become an elitist activity

YES! Our HHI is way higher than I ever would have imagined and I don't feel like we can splurge on that sort of thing. We have a SN kid who is in private therapy but that still doesn't make up for the big lifestyle difference I see from friends/acquaintances. I do the "salary math" and am always left wondering. I think generational wealth is usually the answer?

Yes, I know it is to get back at a male record producer but it wasn’t like she needed the money. So the fans are expected to revenge buy on her behalf?

I don’t get the whole thing but people are willing to do it so capitalism rules the day!

Buy her music twice? OK, grandma. For the vast majority of people, it means that when you want to listen to one of her songs on Apple Music or Spotify, you simply click Taylor's Version, rather than the original recording. No additional cost incurred.

Same. I see this too. It’s the endless supply of money that I don’t understand. We also make a decent living, but in this economy our income is down whereas everyone else seems entirely unaffected. They just can afford endless things!

It's not an endless supply. A lot of people have debt, but they are willing to incur more to "enjoy" their lives. Then they will complain about how they can't retire, or how it's the POTUS fault that they can't save, or that their taxes are too high.

It's not able the music. It's about doing the popular thing. When the popular thing has naturally limited supply, price goes up.

I can’t help being disturbed by the disgusting display of wealth in social media posts. Society is so messed up.

I guess you’re doing it better than everyone else.

This.

My neighbor (we call her the striver) paid 4K for tickets for her family. Now she can say that she went.

People make different choices with their money.

I have good friends who make about the same amount as my husband and I. They have two kids, live in a small townhouse, went to Taylor swift and several other concerts and experiences, just went on vacation to Europe, and have told their kids that they shouldn’t expect any help for college so to consider community college for the first two years then transferring. We have three kids, live in a single family home, and will have saved enough to pay outright for in state tuition for all three kids, but took a driving vacation, and don’t do any concerts (the last concert I attended was the 4th grade strings concert at our kids elementary school). Good people make different spending decisions.

Yeah, but you can only have so much debt, and with interest rates going up it will be hard to service that debt. In many instances, I think people truly just have a crapload of money.

I can only assume that people are way over their heads in debt. I would have liked to have gone to this concert. But I COULDN'T stomach the price.

It always was. The tickets were always expensive and people had to book flights and hotels. It was always very expensive.

Seriously. It's not like she's one of only four artists, joining Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon, to win Album of the Year three times.

Oh, wait . . .

Its not crazy that people want to go. I want to go. But the lengths we have to go to, and how poorly Ticketmaster is managing the bots is pretty sad and crazy.

We are going to Asia to see her. Resale VIP tickets were only a bit over face value and we will spend a week on vacation in addition to the show. It’s fine.
