Don't take reassurance from the internet. If your dog dies, you will never forgive yourself for not having gotten medical attention.
Are you local? Can you give me a number to call. I'm googling but I'm seeing services and not a local emergency vet. I think I'm starting to panic and not googling the right thing. Would appreciate it if someone could just tell me the number of a local emergency vet. I'm in SE, DC, but can drive.

Get in the car and go to VEG, stat. M St. NW. They are amazing. Call before and they will be waiting for you and treat your pup immediately.

OP if you call your regular vet they typically have contact info re: emergency vets on the outgoing message when closed. Good luck!

Our dog ate a full size corn cob two summers ago and we also debated whether it was an emergency or wait and see. Ultimately we took him in. They did an x-ray, saw a blob but not a whole cob. Sent him home to wait. Next more did new x-rays and saw the blob moved but not much. Induced vomiting and he threw up well chewed corn cob. The whole ordeal was about $1400 but our pet insurance covered $1000 of it.

I think if you know the cob was chewed well you could induce vomiting at home with hydrogen peroxide and a Turkey baster. My worry would be if the cob was swallowed whole.

Blue Pearl is great. I’d go there tonight and get care. It’s expensive but this sounds like it could go south quickly.

Thanks everyone. We are at the emergency vet. They have induced vomiting twice and it has not come up. X-rays show it’s about 3 mm big. They are going to do another set of X-rays to take another look. God, I hope he doesn't end up in surgery.

Dogs can eat corn so in less she ate the inside part its probably ok. Salt and pepper are not great but in a small amount is probably harmless.

Glad you’re at the vet, OP—you did the right thing. Sending good thoughts your way. Hang in there.

3mm is tiny—did you mean 3cm? Good luck and keep us posted.
