And she is an ahole. While Ina is lovely. |
How strange to complain about this, especially given how many other business people there are people could appreciate who are low fat, raw, vegans. It’s almost like it’s not a free country! |
| She’s got a quip for that: “It’s a lot of butter, but it makes a LOT of frosting!” |
You’re obviously not familiar with her recipes. She makes all sorts of food, including healthy food. Maybe you’re confusing her with Paula Deen. A stick of butter to brush and baste a whole roast chicken is not that much. As others have noted, the drippings end up in the bottom of the pan. If you were an experienced cook, you would already know this. |
| Lots of butter is fine... when I see all those viral video Asian chefs using a ton of (veg or canola?) oil in pans I get so grossed out. |

It's a French technique to rub softened butter on a chicken when roasting it. The butter helps crisp the skin and keep the chicken moist. I do it. And I'm pretty thin.
I like Ina Garten's recipes. They are as foolproof as any I've seen and I've always enjoyed what I made from her cookbooks. |
I have heard Ina is not so lovely. |
She and her team bungled the Make a Wish thing, but other than that, she seems pretty darned OK to me https://www.mashed.com/408813/ina-gartens-make-a-wish-controversy-explained/ |
| It's time to look inward if a stick of butter for an entire roast chicken is triggering enough to warrant a post. |
Paula Deen was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and has released a number of "slimmed down" recipes, so she too makes all sorts of food, including healthy food. Her last cookbook (I think) was an Air Fryer cookbook. |
Ok? Prior to that, she was well known for heavy, unhealthy Southern food with tons of butter. |
| No shit yo. Ina loves her some butter. |

Cooking to taste good is going to require some fat - butter, oil, etc. I mean, you want to eat healthy or deliciously? Cause let me tell you, if you want the latter, you're gonna gain some weight LOL Do what the Europeans do - don't sit on your lazy fat butt daily.
Also, eating healthy oils and some butter does not actually make you less healthy. Depends on the quality of the ingredients you use ie what kind of oil, butter, etc. And you can eat it but you won't gain that weight if you are taking care of yourselves. There's a lot of grease in all cuisines, even Chinese cooking. Even tempura is fried. I taste all these healthy drinks and the healthier they are the grosser they are! It's kinda like that with food too. Herbs and spices only going so far. |
| She's a chef. That's what chefs do. She wants her food to taste good. Do you want her to use margarine? Chefs know how to use the optimum amount of ingredients to make their food taste good without adversely affecting the average person's health. |
