What's something you ate as a kid that you don't allow your kids to eat?

Memory unlocked! I forgot those Vienna sausages, we'd eat them with saltines. I haven't thought of those in decades!

Omg yes! Right down to the saltines. I bet my parents (in their 80’s) have them in their pantry now and still snack on them regularly.

Cereal as a breakfast food
Donuts as a breakfast food

I don’t eat meat, DD eats chicken and fish but has never had a hot dog or hamburger. Now she’s 11 she can, I’ve shown her the videos about how it’s made because she wanted to have the choice but it hasn’t come up in reality yet.

Toaster strudels
Little Debbie
Hostess orange cupcakes

Those are the main things I can think of.

Oh also koolaid

+1 I remember making pitchers of koolaid all the time. Adding that cup full of sugar.

I don’t know about “not allow” but here are things I grew up on that don’t exist in my kitchen:

Margarine
Packaged white bread
Fake maple syrup
Canned vegetables

These all still exist at my parents house though!

Same here. My FIL is always offering me pancakes with that fake syrup and I can't take it. I don't know how I used to eat it.
I always thought I hated peas but actually I just dislike canned peas, frozen are great and we eat them all the time. Also canned green beans are mushy and gross.

Bologna, American cheese, Koolaid was for bday parties.

I mean, it's not prohibited but we had a big box in the cupboard at all times growing up and I have never purchased it as an adult.

I don't keep soda, junky snacks, etc. in the house but I don't explicitly prohibit them. If they want to have that stuff at a birthday party, order a soda while out to eat/on a plane/etc., I really don't care. (Fortunately, they've never been in a situation where bologna is offered ) A blanket ban on specific foods just seems like you're setting yourself up for issues (i.e., power struggles).

My kids are active and skinny, so we don't have to worry about banning certain types of foods.

I don't not allow them anything except for caffeinated soda (they are under 8). I don't buy a lot of things. And i worked on making sure their palates are good so many things like little Debbie taste too sweet to them anyway. They take 1 bite and thats it.

Same.
