Criminals in cities now running everything with no consequences, because it is progressive criminal justice reform to allow violent one man crime waves out on the street.

It started in 2000 when the Supreme Court gave away the Presidency to someone who didn't even win the popular vote.

I’d accept this if the constitution said that presidents are elected by the popular vote. This repeated assertion re: presidential elections is about the most ignorant things on DCUM. As if people are denied seeing how the electoral college works.

The downfall is that we do not educate the electorate properly. Started when schools stopped teaching civics … in 1990s/2000s?? Why do we have an education system if not to help our citizenry make our country better???

Clearly schools had stopped teaching reading by the time you arrived. The phrase that PP used was “the Supreme Court gave away the Presidency to someone who didn't even win the popular vote.” And that’s true. They just stopped the vote. Said “nope, it’s more important to jus have it done than to make sure the votes are counted.” Since you fancy yourself an expert, maybe you can see why that’s bad.

The clear implication that PP made was that SCOTUS should have based their decision somehow on the popular vote.

Elected politicians baseless claim about stolen election.

Or, alternatively, impeachment based on a bogus report.
Collusion between a political party and news outlets and social media companies.

I agree that it was inappropriate for the Trump White House to collude with Fox News and Twitter, but is that really an indication that the USA is in decline? It's really more of a sign that the Republican party is broken beyond repair, and there's already a 50-page thread on that on DCUM.

Blinken tells Intel community two write letter to shut down the NY Post story about the laptop and then Twitter stops allowing it to be shared. I mean come on.

You are really pushing this false narrative hard, huh? You must be really desperate!

Let’s look at facts. Violent crime has actually gone down in 2022 when compared to the Trump years and it’s lower than the average from the last few decades.

The fact that it's wholly accepted by one of our political parties is the problem.

Where to start?

The US has been in decline/declining for the better part of 40 years. Income inequality, decreasing life expectancy, the worst maternal and infant mortality rate in the developed world, the current rollback of civil right (voting rights) and women's rights, unchecked corruption in Congress and the Supreme Court, and on occasion the Executive Branch, the absurd proliferation of guns and devotion to the gun over the lives of our fellow citizens (the peak was Sandy Hook, which simply cemented that we were lost as a society), the gross politicization of religion, the opioid crisis and allowing the Sacklers to totally get away with ravaging families and communities -- do I need to go on?

Even so, we should all have a lot of hope. We are truly living in the best time with so many opportunities. We should concentrate on making our communities prosperous and strong.

But both sides think they’re the ones with facts.

Nope. (see Dominion v. Fox, see Trump spokespeople referring to their side's narrative as "alternative facts") - the right wing knows they lie, and lie big. Most of America knows it, too - except for the rando MAGA "true believers" who've swallowed every one of those lies wholesale.

This is weird to me. I feel like every day there is some sort of violent crime in my suburban neighborhood and from the police reports the crime seems to have gone up. I've read them for the past 15 years or so.
