SUV Haters

Our neighbors fit three in a Prius. The combination of seats they use is: Britax Marathon, Graco Comfort Sport (with 5-point harness), and Britax Parkway booster.

Do they have a double stroller?

You can fit three carseats, and a double stroller in a Scion xB, but don't expect to put any groceries in there.

The PP whose friend has a Prius, I looked at getting one, and there is no way you put the family in the car, and make a trip to costco. There just isn't the room for it.

I have no problem with people who drive SUVs who have a huge family and are truly utilizing the space in the car.
It's the single driver with no passengers who commutes on the Beltway in an Escalade, Hummer or Suburban that tick me off.

I drive an SUV because I was in a near fatal car accident while driving a small car many years ago. I feel safer and that's all that matters to me and my family.

I wish I had so little going on in my life that I could judge and name call.

I wish I had so little going on in my life that I could figure out how to type in bold on DCUM.

I had the same experience.
I had a small sedan and all four of us fit in fine. A larger sedan hit us. The dent was inches away from my son. I was at a full stop and the other driver turned into us -- driving slow. I would not imagine what could have been at a higher speed. I like my SUV now because it sits up hight. If anyone hits me they hit mostly tire.
AND it's a hybrid.
AND it has hands-free bluetooth.

So I guess I'm the coolest!

Lol!

So, the the poster before that post - what does that mean? People should just buy bigger and bigger cars to feel safer and safer?

The larger SUVs don't necessarily equal more safety. Size of the car is not the most important safety feature. There are other things to consider - side impact air bags, crumple zones, etc.

Also, the larger they are, the harder the fall, on the little cars.

PP. That's exactly why we decided to fore go the whole SUV thing entirely and bought a tank from a government auction. Sure, the gas mileage sucks, but the kids love playing in it and showing it off to their friends. Parking isn't ever an issue with it either, you'd be surprised how willing people are to give up their parking space to you when they see you coming in this baby. We no longer worry about those little dings we used to get at Giant, the camo somehow hides those little imperfection and I swear it looks as good today as it did when we bought it. For those of you who disagree with our choice of vehicle, please, post your address and I will roll it on over to you so you can see for yourselves just what a great choice it was.

I have a family member and a close family friend who have both been in seperate bad accidents and were both told by the police had they not been in their SUVs, they wouldn't have walked away. The main reason we bought our SUV was because it had one of the highest safety ratings of any vehicle on the road. For us safety comes first.

But I also love my SUV and don't give a hoot what anyone else thinks.

That's right. so what if your safety comes at the expense of other road users, not to mention the environment.
