Rest in Peace Kristine Allen.

Poor Blake. I can’t imagine his pain and grief.

May their family and friends surround him with love and support. I hope he takes some comfort from the fact she died probably rather quickly and pursuing her dreams. I hope he does not torture himself with imagining the horrors of his wife being eaten. I hope that K finds some way to show her husband signs that she is at peace on the other side now.

there are too many sharks out in the wild, they need to culled, thanks to all the conservation groups they have blood on their hands

If there are too many sharks fish and kill them, many countries would help

Why so many shark attacks 2022?
It's that warmer oceans are changing where they live. “Sharks are inhabiting areas that they might not have in the past. They might be moving slightly later in the year or earlier in the year, depending on what they need to do in terms of their temperature preferences,”

https://www.theskimm.com/news/shark-sightings

How are sharks affected by overfishing?
Some – like sharks and rays – reproduce more slowly than others, making them more vulnerable to fishing pressure. If we kill sharks more quickly than they reproduce, we are overfishing; their numbers will dwindle and we won't be able to catch many sharks in the future. Overfishing is a problem for both sharks and us.

Only on DCUM discuss how this poor woman doesn't look her age (60).

I was on Maui when this happened. There were not shark warnings posted before her death.

There were FOUR shark attacks and sightings in about two weeks. Another shark attached a local man on the Big Island. He fought off the shark with a diving knife (!!!). Then another sighting on Maui and then a shark killed a dear on Maui.

Lots posted on the Hawaii TripAdvisor forum. Can't believe OP linked the Daily Mail -- the first woman's death made national news in the US.

She looked great. What’s wrong with acknowledging that?

PS. There was something early speculation about the husband but multiple witnesses saw the shark at the time too.

Authorities found the woman's mask, snorkel, and part of her bathing suit. 😬 That's all.

Anonymous wrote:I used to LOVE snorkeling and going to the beach. All my vacations were planned around snorkeling, and I did cool stuff like snorkeling through old pirate ships and with safe shark species.

10 years ago while snorkeling, a massive bull shark stalked me all the way as I swam back to the boat. It was literally just a few feet behind me, and it took all my willpower not to panic and start swimming as fast as I could because rapid movements trigger them to attack.

Haven’t been in the ocean or even at a beach since. Nope. I don’t need to go anywhere with animals that want to eat me.

Good job keeping your cool. Bulls are aggressive and have poor eyesight so rapid movement would have been a trigger for sure. I've gotten much more careful on the Cape as the whites have come back in force. No murky water for me.

Seriously, OP. I am seriously impressed. I did not know this about rapid swimming and sharks. Where was this? Did you just doggy paddle/float until the shark went away?

This was in Belize. I actually went to school for marine biology and worked with animals for a long time, so I knew that fleeing usually triggers predator instincts. Instead you wanna act like you’re a bigger, badder animal than they are LOL. I just swam slowly to the boat.

I’ve since learned from watching a woman on social media who swims with sharks professionally, that you actually want to stop, turn towards them, look as big as possible, stare them right in the eye. Basically look like a predator yourself. Then if they come up to you, you can push them with your leg to the side. I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to try that, but it works well for her during attacks.

The story was weird because the husband said the shark was circling him and he couldn’t find his wife. So the shark ate the wife and then came circling around the husband? That’s a seriously troubled shark.

IKR??? She could pass for 40s!

Feeling very sad looking at the photo. The ocean in the background now looks sinister. Who knows how many sharks are lurking under the surface? How can we ever know? I get very nervous near bodies of water. I have never even gone on a cruise in my life because of the fear of drowning and vicious predators like sharks, crocodiles etc.

No, it’s not “tasteless and crass”.

She looked great. Never would have guessed she was 60.
