I’ve done the same thing and am eternally grateful that the person was a good human being and not a thieving paranoid DCUMr. Geez people. |
OP back. I opened up a ticket with Venmo. They are reversing the charge back because they think it was an honest mistake. No additional transaction from my account, so I think we're all good. |
Why would Venmo be linked to a credit card anyway?? Ever. It should be with a debit or checking account that actually has funds in it. |
That’s what’s weird about Venmo - they have a “what do I do if I send money to the wrong person” faq that tells you to request the money back. Yet their list of common scams specifically mentions the “wrong person” scam, and recommends blocking the user who did it. |
Wow-- didn't know this was a "thing"
If only scammer could rechannel the energy used for deceit into something positive, the world would be so much better off. |
Checking and debit accounts aren’t known for their fraud protection like credit cards are. That said, I didn’t think linking to a CC was possible with Venmo. Thought that was just Paypal. |
We accidentally sent a rent payment to the wrong person. They kept it and never replied. That sucked. Contact Venmo. |
Thank you! |
