Davidson? |
OP, my kid has applied to three of the schools on your kid's list, and gotten acceptances to two of them so far. 33 ACT (comparable to your son's SAT), and a 4.7 weighted GPA. Five rolling/EA acceptances and no rejections or deferrals-- yet. But these were all safeties/targets. The remaining four schools on DC's list are significantly more competitive and we will definitely be surprised if there are no rejections in the new year. Fortunately, DC is excited about some of the acceptances they've already received, so will be OK no matter what. |
No but in that league. |
Why do posters have to be so coy about naming schools. Every school that gets batted around on threads like these gets many applicants from many DMV schools -- private and public. There's no danger that you'll out yourself, and naming the school is much more helpful. |
I get it - it's a sensitive time. My DD is in to her ED, but she is freaking out with so many of her friends finding out tonight from Brown, Duke, Penn, then Northwestern tomorrow. |
To answer your subject line question OP- not well. |
Do you mind elaborating? |
No merit from Fordham? |
Oh, you must be talking over four years then. |
Not yet. Merit comes later after the acceptance I think |
Yeah, well, I'd rather protect DC's privacy (and provide some limited help) than overshare and risk someone IDing my kid (or even worse becoming convinced my kid is someone else's kid)....and there is not really a need for more specificity. Knowing that this school was in the same league as Davidson and that my kid was denied with the stats I listed is really every bit as helpful as knowing the specific school. The point is, for this category of highly selective SLACs, these stats aren't a guarantee of ED admission. |
So now you are unhappy? Your poor child!!! You should be celebrating them and what they have accomplished. Have some faith that they know themselves, and where they will do best. |
No, it should be their choice. This area is very hard in teens. My child was done with the snark and competitiveness. She has truly thrived in a more nurturing community. It was such a good fit that she has achieved outstanding outcomes (grades, internships, etc). She knew best. |
You will also appreciate that aid when you start writing checks! |
You're certainly free to withhold the name the school but to assume that "the same league as Davidson" is helpful to me, is wrong. |
