Looking for a decorator for furnishing and decorating entire house

I'm also working on furnishing a new build house that's not yet done, and everywhere I went it was no problem for them to hold the furniture once it came in for a certain period of time, or just put it in the queue normally if it took long enough (Peloton was the exception to this). I timed it right and the bulk of my furniture bought near the end of this summer/early fall will come in right on time for move-in. I recommend going in person to the store and talking with the salesperson, as online systems may not present you with all your delivery timelines.

I didn't get everything this way, as I prioritized my $ for certain pieces/rooms and I'll get Ikea/wayfair/overstock for the rest after we move in.

On your timing question-
My American- made bed will take 7mo on tbe current timeline to arrive (ordered this summer). My American-made couch will take 9mo. Both of those timelines have already been extended from the initial estimates.
Idk when you move in, but you may not have a choice except to wait.

OP, if you are interested in a look that's not too C&B and maybe a little more Ethan Allen, but with some true American furniture, you should check out the Guest Room in Leesburg. They carry good brands, can make stuff more or less custom, and I believe they have design services. Especially if you are in NoVa.

I moved out of the DMV but really liked that store.

If I work with in-house designer from Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, etc. can they order the pieces early (to avoid delays caused by supply chain issues), and hold them for a while? Several years ago when we moved into our current house, we waited months for our bed to be delivered, sofa came quicker, but the bed took like 4 months.

OP, with a $20k/room budget you should be able to do wayyyyyy better than Pottery Barn. I would think you can get custom-made stuff for that much, unless your rooms are huge and you want to fill them up with a ton of furniture.
