So I don’t have a roasting pan, but I’m willing to buy one. How can I tell if it is big enough? We are having 6 adults and 2 kids. I think he ordered a 10-12 lb turkey.

I buy my roasting pan at the dollar store. To me it's not worth it to buy an actual pan and store it 364 days per year.

The Dollar Store pans don't have handles. That is key when reaching into a hot oven trying to hold onto a 15lb bird with liquid/gravy slushing around.

Disposable roasting pan WITH handles. They're like $3 at Walmart.

What is the pie situation? I use this time of year to make sure I have enough baking supplies for Thanksgiving and Christmas: corn syrup, pecans, and canned pumpkin (if needed for pies) plus sugar (brown and powdered) and flour.

Grocery stores will have the disposable ones.

Make sure to have staples like milk, eggs, unsalted and salted butter, salt, pepper, cornstarch, flour. Extra chicken or turkey stock. Maybe ask what spices they plan to use. I think what people tend to have around varies.

I would ask them what tools the need.
