Assuming that Annapolis area-based Maryland United isn't being included in the Baltimore region. |
|
It's never clear in these threads whether the OP is asking about boys or girls.
As to boys, you can check BA's social media and see that there are many BA players who have committed to or are playing for Division 1 schools. They have been successful in developing players. For boys soccer in the Baltimore Area, these next years will be telling. Celtic definitely had the edge for a while. However, their outstanding teams that produced many D1 players are aging out of club soccer. I'm not sure how strong the boys' teams behind the 2003s are. |
Agreed. And players go back and forth between all four of those clubs.
|
Annapolis? If that was considered Baltimore then so would Bethesda. Only a difference of 6 miles. |
Again- back and forth to Bethesda as well. Many of the Bethesda players went up to md United and many md United went to Bethesda. |
The point is that Maryland United draws from the same area as BA and the other clubs mentioned by the PP. In fact, I know of a number of girls formerly with Baltimore Armour who have moved to Maryland United. These clubs are essentially the same market, so to mention Pipeline, Celtic, and SAC/BA as the "best" without mentioning Maryland United makes no sense. Maryland United is definitely in the mix for best in that market. |
You must live in VA because MUFC and Pipeline rule in girls soccer in Baltimore, BaCo, HoCo and Southern MD. Hell there are girls in MoCo who bypass BSC for MUFC. Most of the top HS players in Howard County play at MUFC - It is a quick drive down 32 or 100 to 97 to reach the practice fields. Pipeline is more of trek to get around 695. SAC is a rec club and BA is its attempt at travel. You will not find a BA girls team in the top bracket of any major tournament that isn't their own. |
Oh stop. Sac is definitely not just a rec club. That’s a ridiculous statement. They have a successful travel program and a separate Rec program And BA are in top bracket of three age groups at Wags this year. 06 and 07s were too bracket down in NC last winter too. |
The previous post is confusing. I believe they were talking about BA which plays in GAL. Can anyone name 4 teams that play in this division of GAL without looking it up on internet? |
On the boys side, they have existed since 2015, in the DA. Essentially took Baltimore Bays DA spot. SAC, Pipeline, Pro Soccer Academy, and Baltimore Bays were the original 4 clubs that started it. That whittled down to just SAC and Pipeline, then just SAC when Pipeline went to ECNL. They wanted Celtic but never managed to get them, as at the time Celtic had some good boys teams. https://www.soccerwire.com/news/sw-qa-john-ellinger-explains-the-creation-of-baltimores-new-development-academy-superclub/ They were then a founding club of MLSNext, but just them (SAC), no other partner teams. |
Point shmoint you silly sausage. |
| Bumping up this old thread. Any updated thoughts on Baltimore Armour? The club in general and specifically their GA teams? |
| They are a weak club at best. If your DD is a lower level GA player, they might provide you an opportunity. |
|
The 2010 Girls GA team is the standout - regional GA champs last year, tracking at the top this year as well. The rest of the teams are mid to low-tier in the GA league. See Mid-Atlantic conference per age group:
https://system.gotsport.com/org_event/events/27199 All teams train at SAC's Covenant Park field so stable on practice location unlike any of the other MD GA or ECNL teams. 3 coaches, one of them only coaches one team this year. Generally low drama, players seem happy though not terribly challenged. Not known for strong college connections but participate in all major GA showcases. |
| What about the boys' program? They seem to have strong college placements. |
