ugh Technical TTurbo tac question -

Sorry if this belong in finance. Where in turbo tax do I enter the 529 contributions? I found the line/question for distrubtion but cant find the contirbutions line.
When I do the google it tells me I can enter at the VA interview section. I can't find that section or I canyt tell I am in that section.

529 contributions are not deducted on your federal taxes so there is nowhere to enter them in that portion of turbo tax. When you complete your federal return and move on the the VA portion, then you can enter them there.

I believe it's listed under "college savings plans" or something similar. If it doesn't prompt you, you should be able to find it under the "adjustments to state income" part of the program (or something similar to that title).

We did our taxes early, so I don't remember exactly where it came up, but I know it did pop up while we were filling out the Virginia forms in Turbotax

Or if like many people you don't live in Virginia, it will be on the form for your state. (Not all states have deductions for 529 plans though).

\I live in VA. I think MD , VA, and DC all give a dedcution... this would include Tysons Corner!
