any composters out there?

I want to start composting our kitchen scraps and am looking for recommendations for composting systems. We want to keep it in our backyard, so we can't do a worm bin which I think can't handle the cold temperatures outside. I'm looking at the green cone compost bin or a compost tumbler. But I am confused which one is better when all I will be composting is kitchen scraps. If anyone has experience with either of these methods, I have a few more questions that I'd like to ask before you buy one of them. Thanks.

Depends. We have a bin type composter. We are still tweaking it and on't give it as much attention as we should (I regret this but vow to do better this year!) If you will be good about turning it over to allow the stuff to "cook" evenly, no need for a tumbler.

We use kitchen scraps and some yard scraps (grass clippings and leaves). Keep it moist and turn it over regularly.

You can also try using "worm tea" . . . we found "global worming" on the internet (just google it). A local guy bottles and sells it. We add to the compost and use on our plants and as an insecticide. Pretty good stuff. But stinky.
