So it is that time again....soccer season. Some of us will be taking our kids out to the pitch this year while others will be lacing up cleats and dusting off the sports bras.

My team, the Twisted Sisters, is actively recruiting for some new over 30 female players for the spring season. Great opportunity to show our kids we can stay fit without dragging ourselves to the gym. We have a few folks out with injuries, pesky pregnancies and a couple have moved. Gotta love how transient DC is.

Here are the details:

We play in the WAWSL league - www.wawsl.org - over 30 Master's Division (must turn 30 before June 8). The team is a mix of folks who range in age from just 30 to 48

9 games starting March 30 - all on turf fields (Woodrow Wilson HS, Gallaudet, Holy Child) or at Trinity University grass field - All fields within DC and one in Bethesda area - metro accessible or we carpool

We ask that players be able to make at least 7 of the 10 games (first game time will be posted tomorrow and the rest of the schedule next week). Games are 90 minutes and played on Saturdays

We are not overly competitive but we do like to win - one season we won all our games and the next we lost all but one

Cost is 95.00 per season plus 30.00 for a jersey (you don't pay for the jersey unless you continue for a second season - otherwise give it back)

We are looking for a few new players. You will enjoy playing with us if you are in generally good shape and know the basics of soccer. If you played in college or high school we would happily have you on the team That said we have had a field hockey maven on the team who is a rock star on the field and a marathoner who had never kicked the ball turn into a great forward. So if you understand the game and can run around a field then we are the team for you.

There is a new player practice this Saturday you can come out to and I will also be at an open scrimmage on Monday night on Capital Hill.
