Good School Systems in MD

We need to move into a good school system. We have heard good things about Howard County public schools, anyone have any input on this school system? Also please share any information that you have on good school systems within 30-40mins of DC. We currently live in Prince George's and cannot continue to pay for private school for good education for our children.

I like Howard better than Montgomery County. But it has its good and bad schools just like every jurisdiction. It's smaller than MoCo, which helps keep the crazy bureaucracy in check better than MoCo.

Moco has school choice via magnets Howard has nothing but your local school. The bad schools have AA and Hispanic diversity the good one do not. Howard schools are smaller and they redistrict alot.

Is the assertion in this post that schools with ethnic diversity are the "bad" schools? Please clarify.

Every howard school has a GT program at the local school. I see this as a huge advantage. My daughter is in an HGC, and would have close to a two hour bus ride to the middle school magnet. Not much of a choice if it's 2% of the kids and nowhere near where you live.
