How long between miscarriage/d&c and period? When did you start TTC again?

missed miscarriage at 14 weeks and we're planning to wait two cycles before TTC. hoping first period comes in a normal timeframe - used to be 28 days like clockwork before this pregnancy. What was your experience?

I've miscarried several times and every time it was 6 weeks until I got my first period. Each time we waited 2 cycles before TTC again.

So sorry for your loss, OP -- it absolutely sucks to miscarry anytime, but (I speak from experience) especially after the first trimester, when we're supposed to be "out of the woods". Sending you good thoughts, and hoping for a happier outcome next time.

So sorry to hear about your loss, OP. That must be especially painful.

I had a D & C at 11 weeks with a missed miscarriage, got a light period about a week later, and then a full period 25 days from the D & C. Cycle was about 25 days for 3-4 months, started acupuncture, cycle elongated to 28 days for another few cycles.

I had a D&C in December, and then my period was 6 weeks, 5 days afterwards. It lasted for a long time--- over a week. And now still waiting for my second period, post D&C--- it has been 36 days, very frustrating. Anyone else have this experience of loooonnnnnng cycles after D&C?

Wow, 9:26, you could be me exactly. I almost wondered if I'd written the post myself. I'm so sorry you're going through this too. D&C in December, period almost 7 weeks later, although normal length for me (5-6 days). I'm still waiting for my next period (it's been 42 days), although I got a + opk on day 34, so hopefully something will happen soon.

OP, I'm so sorry for your loss. It is a very hard thing.

9:26 & 11:08, similar story here. I had a missed miscarriage (Cytotec, not D&C) in early December. My first period took 5 weeks and it was longer than usual, though not heavier, seemed like the process was just getting stretched over some extra time. My second period was 42 days later, and was super long, almost a week in duration. I am planning to start acupuncture soon, to see if it helps regulate my cycle.

Miscarried at 17 weeks "naturally" and my period took about 6 weeks to come back. Waited two cycles and got pregnant on our first try in December. That one didn't stick either, but my cycles were regular after that first one. Good luck.

I also had a missed miscarriage and a D&C, and am also waiting for my period to come back. My doctor only told me I needed to wait until after my first period to start trying again. Can I ask if others are waiting 2 cycles based on doctor's advice, or for other reasons?

12:43 here: My doctor told me that if I have a D&C, she would recommend I wait longer before trying again, because the D&C takes away more of the uterine lining. That's why I chose Cytotec. We used contraception till the first period came and are now off it again.

Miscarried in mid August 2011, d/c on the 19th. First "real" period 10/1. Conceived in mid-October, and delivered a healthy 39 week old baby 7/1/12.

I'm so sorry for your loss, OP. I too had similar experiences of the PPs. I had a miscarriage and D&C in September. Took 6 weeks to get my period after that. Then waited two cycles (dr suggested because of the uterine lining). Then got pregnant end of January and miscarried at 6 weeks (2 weeks ago). Waiting for my period now-I expect it will be 6 weeks again sadly (took 6 weeks after I went off the pill too). I think a lot of it has to do with how quickly your hCG comes down. This time I'm going to do BBT and get a progesterone level tested (starting after my period comes back). Sorry again-just know you're not alone.
