28-29 day regular cycles since weaning first child 1.5 years ago tend to get positive ovulation test on day 15, in the morning today is day 12 tried last month and it didn't work - had sex days 13, 14, 15, 17 i'm thinking tomorrow, friday, sat, sunday (that'd be days 13, 15, 16, 17). i'm pretty sure we conceived our child the day after the positive test last time (which would explain why this month didn't work - DH was away that day). any thoughts? would every other day be better (so days 14, 16, 18)? maybe we should try for the morning after the positive test (we've always done it at night)? any ideas are welcome. thanks ![]() |
Have sex every other day before you think you're going to ovulate. So, if you think you ovulate on day 15, I would get going and have sex today, day 14, and day 16. If you don't get pregnant this month, start even earlier next month. The egg is only viable for 12-24 hours and the sperm can live for a number of days, so the key is to have regular sex before you think you are going to ovulate. |
Yes, I agree with the PP.
It takes some time for the sperm to reach the destination. They can live for several days. |
If you get a positive on day 15 you are ovulating 24-36 hours later. I would definitely have sex on day 15 so the sperm is there and again on the 16th just in case you are on the later end of ovulation.
Although sperm can live up to 5 days in an ideal environment it is more realistic to say 2 days. So day 14 might not do you any good and day 16 might be too late. |
