I just got called back for a 2nd interview at a large company that normally has a very streamlined interview process that does not include second interviews. The first interview was with the general panel and the second is with the hiring manager of the division I'd actually be working for/in. I tried to get a feel from the recruiter of what this was about by suggesting that perhaps my salary was above what they were initially prepared to offer and this was basically to see if I was "worth it." The recruiter sort of acknowledged this but wouldnt confirm. It does seem like a good sign, but I just wish I had more insight.
Anyone have any insight on 2nd interviews? |
Is this a bank? If so, you'll do fine Wednesday

| If the company doesn't normally do second interviews, then I would find it strange/surprising that the hiring manager wasn't included in the first round. I honestly can't imagine that any place would proceed with an offer without having the candidate speak to a hiring manager. I've only heard it in the context of entry-level type positions which is obviously not your situation. It's definitely encouraging (the hiring manager wouldn't be wasting his/her time if the general panel didn't find you worthwhile). Good luck. |
| np. I am also having a 2nd interview this week - and not to highjack the thread, but I'm sooo nervous that I cannot think of any questions to ask them. help! |

In my DH's line of work, there are always second interviews for the short-listed candidates.
Good luck. |
My company does it this way constantly. It's odd but its part of the culture. I met my hiring manager AFTER I got an offer. |
