Why isn't the stock market closed during this volatility, for a few days until the dust settles around the world?! Didn't we do this after 9/11 to prevent a major slide? Based on every day bringing more knee-jerk selling around the world markets, causing a chain reaction when the next world market has its opening bell - - wouldn't this at least give people pause to stop, breathe and think, rather than place panicked sell orders? |
I think that would send a worse message. |
How can it be WORSE than it already is and continuing to worsen daily? And all because the market ahead of its opening bell tanked... it is self-perpetuating. |
shares can go up as well as down.
you can't close the markets because you don't like it when they go down. |
It tanked this morning because of the overseas markets and because many put sell orders in last night/this morning which were executed at the bell.
Markets go up and down. If you are too nervous when they are going down, then equities might not be the right investment vehicle for you. |
Me? Hell, no - I'm the OP, and I am researching what stocks to BUY right now. But the masses who herd themselves over the edge like lemmings are the ones who are sparking the sell offs. For the public's own good, close the market for a day or two. |
