3 to 1 on Intrade

I've become addicted to watching the price of Obama and McCain shares on Intrade.com. After being well below Obama all summer, McCain overtook him after the RNC. But since mid-September, the tide has gone way back in Obama's favor until his shares were selling at twice the price of McCain's a couple of days ago, and as I write this it is more than three to one! I know this only reflects the perception people have at this moment, but it's a perception they are willing to put money on. And state by state, they are putting their money on Obama in 338 electoral votes worth of states.

For background, in 2004, Intrade was betting on Florida for Bush when the polls said Kerry. I think Intrade got every state right in that election.

This is not 2004, and every day brings new surprises, so I'm not doing any betting myself. But if McCain is so adamant about putting his country first, I think it's about time he face the possibility that Barack Obama may be his next Commander-In-Chief and show the man some respect.

Well, its the votes that decide and while I am optimistic that Obama will win, i agree with David Gergen that Obama is "still black" and anything can happen when voters step into the voting booth come November 4. For a host of reason Nov 5, will be an very interesting day.
