The Golden Bachelor

I am her age and also divorced. While I entertain the prospect of marrying again i want to take it very very slow. I personally would have no problem with a relationship like this. How can you possibly decide to marry someone you just met? I understand the concept of the show but it rarely happens in real life. This scenario is realistic.

You are smart. But if Mel accepted the offer to be the lead, he knew what the premise was. All the ladies knew what the premise was. And if he wants to do it his way -- ok. That's fine. But, don't rewrite history and say that Cindy demanded to get married at the end of the filming. That's not what Cindy was saying. She asked if he was ready to get engaged. He said that he wanted to wait a couple of years. She said she wasn't looking for a couple years of dating with no commitment. And then he had the gall to BLAME her by saying repeatedly that "she quit." "She gave up." That is completely unnecessary. It makes me think he has found ways to blame his exwife for times when they didn't align in the past as well.

Mel could have quite easily said, "I'm really sad that she left, but I had to be true to myself. I had to tell her what I was willing to do even if it wasn't what she wanted to hear." He could see things in a non-blaming way. But his instinct is to call out someone who hurts him/disagrees with him, and to cast them in a negative light. Red flags flying.

Mel hasn't been divorced for 5 years as he has claimed. And if his exwife is the one who initiated it, the only reason it took 5 yrs to get finalized is because HE was dragging it out and holding up the process. Mel hasn't actually been divorced for even one year yet. And he hasn't paid his $900,000 bill to his ex wife. More red flags.

Let's be real -- Mel went on this show for the cash payout. Probably a couple hundred thousand, but for a guy who claims he only makes $1000/MONTH, That's a lot of cash. Mel is not exactly a "GOLDen" bachelor. More like fools gold.

Oh for sure Mel did it for the money. Also, maybe to salvage his ego after his wife dumped him for a successful female executive. I think he does like Peg, but agree with PPs that it's harder to understand what she sees in him.

Well the lead was AWFUL. Hoping casting can do better next time, if there is a next time.

Only a trainwreck of person would seek a spouse this way. All they can cast are personality disordered weirdos. No mentally healthy spouse material type person would go on this show.

Apparently they've already been fighting. Shocker. Even though it's The Sun talking, I can believe it.

I think they will try to hang in there, but will find it challenging to make it six months.

I can see how she is good for him, but don’t see what she gets out of it.

I don’t like macho men, but Mel seems like he would be afraid to kill a spider.

You can’t really live if you seek zero risk.

Peg is going to get bored real fast.

Of course she'll be bored. They are so ill-suited.

Pretty sure everyone wants better for Peg than Mel. Other than Mel.
