| So I have a very reasonable offer from a new company, but they can't go up on $$ at all from their original offer. Are there other things I can/should consider negotiating? Also, can one negotiate maternity leave? I'm not pregnant, but plan on having a second kid at some point (likely not for about a year or so anyway). As far as I can tell, they do a month paid leave..Or is that just a terrible idea? |
I wouldnt touch the maternity leave thing with a ten foot fucking pole. What I would negotiate: Sign on bonus? Annual bonus? Additional vacation time (this is usually the easiest to get. I'm at 7 weeks, just play hardball) |
Agree with this poster. DO NOT mention maternity. DH was in the same position - got signing bonus and higher level annual bonus & stock option opportunities (if he would have been eligible for 10% they gave him 15, etc) |

I always upped vacation at the end like a given saying my last job as 5 weeks- so expected the same or better. I will never accept 2 weeks- been working too long for this!
