Hi DCUM. I had a D&C in mid-December, after my pregnancy was discovered to be a blighted ovum. Six weeks later, I still haven't gotten my period. Has anyone else had to wait this long for their period to start up post-D&C? My O/B told me to give a call if I still hadn't gotten my period after 8 weeks. Does anyone know what to expect if I have to go in for an appointment at that time?
Thanks, all. This is a frustrating experience, as it prolongs the emotional pain of the pregnancy loss . . . |
You will probably get it in next week or two. I had a D&C and got period after 8 weeks exactly. |
Sorry for your loss. It could be that your body still thinks it's pregnant and isn't getting the hormonal signals that it needs to release the lining. Some bodies take longer to return to standard operating procedure. ![]() I had a D & C last summer and got a period 10 days later and then a full period 25 days to the day of the D & C. My periods have since been on a 25-day cycle. |
So sorry for your loss OP. I had a D&C in early December, also due to a blighted ovum. I haven't gotten my period either, although it looks like I'm starting to spot today, so here's hoping. It will have been almost 7 weeks since the D&C. I really hear you on the waiting, it's just the worst. For me anyway, there's nothing I'd like to do more than start trying again, but this waiting puts us in total limbo. Crossing fingers that your period kicks into gear soon. |
OP here. Thank you very much to the PPs for your supportive words. Best wishes to all of you in 2013! |
OP again. Could anyone speak about their experiences using chasteberry drops and/or acupuncture to regulate periods after D&C? Thank you! |
D&c mid October, period mid-December. I bet yours will come shortly. Best of luck. |
OP back again! Just FYI, I ended up getting my period 6 weeks, 5 days after D&C. Thanks for the responses! |
Thanks for checking back, OP. Glad to hear that your body figured it out.
You might have a new cycle structure from here on out so if you want to TTC again, start temping and using OPK to see when your new fertile window is. |
