Nothing is going to change with our schools they will be virtual until Trump is gone.

While Trump doesn't make those decisions his complete lack of being human creates a chaos like no other.

Trump wins in November no more schools as we know it. If you think this is not going to get worse all over the country you are not paying attention.

That doesn’t even make any sense.

No chance Trump wins in November anyway, but Trump WANTS to see schools re-open.

Old white people vote
Young and minorities do not vote

He has a very good chance of winning.

Can any teacher and parents so scared, find situations where there are outbreaks and kids/teachers dying? I mean most of the country and the world have been back for 2 months now.

I am not talking a outlier here or there. I am talking factual outbreaks, sicknesses and deaths from in-person school. Even every outlier article starts off like it was and then once you read the article find out that one person was never in a classroom with kids, or got it from a wedding, etc...

I just don't see why all of the fear. Most of my family is in Florida and their schools are running just fine. My sister teaches in Orange County. Has been since August 10th. Their numbers are also much higher than 2% although they have gone way done the past 2 months too.

Life has moved on in almost every other state and not in most counties in Maryland too.

This time everyone who hates Trump is going to vote, and he only won by a narrow margin in a few states last time. Did you hear about all of the people who voted early already compared to previous elections? He's also losing popularity among senior citizens.

But more people secretly like him because their portfolio is doing well and that won't happen with Biden in office. This is the most selfish country in the world. No one is voting for the greater good, UNLESS they don't have a portfolio, and many of those people are uneducated racist Americans who will still vote for Trump.

Honestly, it does not look good.

I never know what people mean by "life has moved on." I mean, we all wish for the pandemic to be over, presumably. But wishing doesn't make it so.

It has moved on because you can do virtually everything you could do pre-pandemic. You just have to wear a mask now. Districts like MCPS are dragging their feet of course, but they'll have to come around as well at some point.

Ah, now I understand. What you mean is, "I can do everything I used to do."

We have been extremely cautious since this started. So many of the complainers are parents who just can’t say no because their kids are bored and need social interaction. Join the club! This is a sacrifice, but it’s the right thing to do. You don’t get to have your hair done and then complain that school isn’t open.

Yeah, but you're wrong; its not the right thing to do.

People act like the collateral damage of quarantine is hypothetical; its not. Its real and its damaging our children on a daily basis in ways worse than COVID ever will.

I am a parent who has permitted sleepovers and camps and sports teams, with cautions (likes masks, outdoors, distancing when possible, etc.).

Because the elderly can't be the only ones who warrant consideration. The children deserve the same level of concern.

And I fully believe that we can protect both groups.

Well it has. Schools back, restaurants and store open. Casinos, movie theaters, escape rooms, mini golf, etc... all open. Office buildings open. Colleges open. Just do it safely.

Yup. I don't think the "quarantine until the vaccine" group realizes how much life has resumed without them.

And here in our county, its encouraging to see so many people comply with the safety rules.

For example, on Saturday my kids has 3 games: soccer, softball, and baseball. Each parent stayed socially distant on the sidelines and wore masks. The kids wore masks in the dugout & on the bench. Then, we went out to dinner. All staff wore masks, and the patrons wore their masks entering and exiting the establishment.

90% of life has resumed.

And if we, as a community, are prepared to allow Escape Rooms to resume (rooms where people are locked in together with no windows into a small room and you literally have to touch everything to get out), then we need to prioritize school re-opening.

For Elementary, we need to keep it simply. One full F2F option 4-5 days a week, and one full DL. F2F must wear masks or be sent home. F2F must consent to a daily temp check. F2F must use hand sanitizer upon entering the room.

Keep it simple, Stupid.

This isn't as hard as we are making it out to be

Not with sleepovers. Good grief. Unless you're having masked, outdoors, distanced sleepovers.

No, I can't. I couldn't even if I wanted to, and I don't want to, because I would like to be able to look after my octogenarian parents without worrying that I will bring them their death.
