It's clearly staged. However, her last arrest with her self inflicted wounds shows how mentally unstable she is. She is horrible.

They are a case of when loud crazy (larissa) intersects with quiet crazy (colt). Larissa must have been majorly desperate to live in America to hook up with a thirty something lumpty dude with cats who lives with his mother.

She was not desperate as they met in Cancun the first time. She must have had money in order to afford a ticket to Cancun. According to a Brazilian family from her hometown, her dad and step mom are very well off and have been supporting her.
So I am not sure she needed to come to the USA to "harvest the US dollar" and mama Chantel would say.

I don't think her family is wealthy. Her father was in the military, and she gave up one of her kids because she could not afford to keep him. If they met in Cancun, I would think he paid for everything, including her ticket.

Leida has attempted suicide, she’s accused Eric of abusing her physically while he was trying to save her from cutting her wrists with knives.

This show is very scripted, most of these couples were married before filming started (eric and Leida) but we still watch knowingly. Must admit i miss the show, but am happily watching Married At First Sight

Her family is not wealthy, otherwise she would have already been here going to school many years ago! In fact, if they were actually wealthy, they would have sent her overseas to a boarding school. She's a complete loser, and she married one, too.
