Why exactly should they not be required to leave?

illegal: Contrary to or forbidden by law

Again, why exactly is it okay to enter the US illegally and then participate in government assistance programs? If someone has an intelligent answer, I'm more than willing to learn and consider new possibilities.

I appreciate that you are asking this in a non-confrontational way, but I suspect that any answer I could give would not change your position. I think we (probably) disagree on the very fundamentals of this argument -- for instance, I understand that they are breaking the law and should in theory be held accountable to that -- but I disagree with the law. So I don't have an argument for you there that you would buy into.

That said, the numbers on illegal immigrants collecting government assistance are (in my estimation) wildly inflated. Now, you can very well come back and ask me to prove it but I can no more prove my position on this than you can yours. Why? Because no one can. No one has any idea what the numbers are. The CBO has said that the net costs to states is probably minimal. So, while I certainly know that many people think that even if $1 goes to illegal immigrant families is $1 too much, I personally think that if it is taxpayer dollars you are worried about there are other areas that would come first on my list.

I don't want to get too far off the original topic so I will leave it at that.

No pp, but what I'm getting is that basically you have no answer and your beliefs are based on things you can't even prove? Uhmmmm...okay.

NP here. Many undocumented workers use fake papers, so they are indeed paying payroll taxes. Because they aren't working legally, though, they will never actually collect the social security or medicare benefits that they paid for. So actually, "illegal aliens" are subsidizing our entitlement programs.

Yeah, but most of them have "baby mommas" who have multiple anchor babies so that they can stay home and collect welfare payments, get free education, free healthcare, etc. So, yeah...not exactly a wash.

You're a piece of work, aren't you? First, the term you used to describe children is disgusting. These children are American citizens. Period. Why would they not be allowed the same rights and privileges as other American children?

I am sick of drivers not pulling over to let ambulances pass. WTF? How would you like it if that were your father in there having a heart attack?

What makes it even more galling is that everyone readily pulls over for the police, of course, so they don't get in trouble. And they usually pull over for fire engines, I guess because a huge red vehicle with a deep, powerful horn is sufficiently intimidating. But with ambulances, it's like some drivers think, Eh, I've got somewhere to be, too.

--Bullies.
--Snooty earth-mother types and snooty debutante-types -- anyone who isn't up for a game of pool and a round of tequila shots is lame.
--NCIS -- Mark Harmon is such a drag in that show. Someone that cute should lighten up.

How come neither of you two arguing immigration have mentioned the millions of dollars that farmers lost this year, with their crops literally rotting in the field, because of those get-tough-on-immigration laws? Good solid A-mur-icans, losing money for lack of laborers. 10-20% unemployment? Real americans still aren't desperate enough to pick fruit.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/05/27/136718112/georgia-farmers-say-immigration-law-keeps-workers-away

Yeah, give me an undocumented worker any day. They are what americans should be-- hard working, family oriented. And find some way to get rid of the lazy natural-born citizens who would rather sit on their asses collecting welfare than do even a couple weeks of the work that our neighbors to the south are willing to do for months on end.

The xtian fish magnets on SUV's - way to go, polluting kids brains and the environment all in one!

People who only buy brand names in food

People who don't use reusable bags at the grocery store

Men who hang fake testicles from their truck bumpers

WHAT??

(Also I agree about the grocery bags, and with the following poster about people who don't recycle.)

But please explain this fake testicles thing.

Doesn't it mean they want to be a bottom?

I live in a neighborhood where we have more older kids. So our children go over their friend's homes to play. What is wrong saying that? Freakn' Play Date!
Next, they will be giving every child a trophy for participating in soccer, kickball, or dodgeball. Oops! I forgot kids aren't allow to play dodgeball. Boo frickn' Hoo!
The Woosyfication of the American child. What's next banning jump ropes because Lil' Susie may trip and fall!

Yes, that and they may become suicidal and try to hurt themselves because they are overwhelmed by all the shit they can't remember that they are not supposed to be doing.

I have a candy dish..and I bitch about it (sometimes). Mainly because folks become critical about what I have in my bowl. Either take a piece or move along, but don't turn your nose up at the candy *I* buy.

In other words illegals are commiting identity theft, again costing US money.
