This is not true at Columbia. You owe the club the initiation upfront. Whether or not you decide to finance it with a bank/third party financial institution is up to you. |
I think the point is that if you’re not generally part of the financial class that one would expect to have $100k on hand to drop on a country club membership, you probably don’t run in the same circles as other members and wouldn’t be likely to be approached about joining. |
Some clubs require a financial co-signer not for the initiation fee, but as a sign that the sponsor stands behind the applicant's ability to pay ongoing financial commitments like dues and assessments. |
No financial co-signer at CCC.
Love replying to a 13+ year old post, but if you want to get into Chevy (and in person I would ask "Why?" -- though there are many valid reasons), then the best way is to get to know members. How? Live in the neighborhood, befriend your neighbors, put your young kids in (i) the local public schools, (ii) Blessed Sacrament or (iii) Landon / NCS / Holton, etc. and get to know the parents, many of whom will be members. None of this is cheap, but neither is membership. But that's the way. |
Can anyone share the current initiation fee? Also curious what’s required for the spouse of the member in terms of interview, letters etc. |
Why don’t you ask your sponsors? If you don’t have sponsors, start there. |
Not sure of the fee- but the spouse doesn't do anything except participate. If they are accepted as members, they are "family". If there is a divorce the spouse is no longer a member of the Club. |
Don’t want to seek a sponsor if I decide the initiation fee is too high and I wouldn’t want to pursue. |
Would you be comfortable with $135k membership fee (but no golf at this rate) and $600 monthly dues? If no, then no need to look further. If this is a drop in your bucket then find a sponsor. |
Honestly, I don’t like your chances. |
In the $120k range, plus $10k or so per year. That includes golf (Chevy does not have golf vs non-golf memberships), of course once the course makeover is completed this summer. |
Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon? |
Perhaps they offer Grey Poupon at Congressional, Columbia or a Hagerstown food truck. Chevy offers Maille Dijon Black Truffle. |
Well excuuuuse me… 😁 |
With which institutions does Chevy have the most overlap (schools, churches, sports leagues, other clubs etc)? |
