What are the list of MCPS positions set to be laid off (assuming the budget cuts go through)?

If your kid can't manage college applications, then maybe they'd do best to start at a community college.

Seeing some of these responses about college makes me glad I work at a W school and will be actively lowering a lot of GPAs. Some of these parents need to get humbled

The updated list was just sent to MCPS employees.

So was this comment: "With approximately 90% of our budget composed of people (our teammates), there are really only two places for us to seriously consider making reductions to balance our budget - it must either come from the number of people we employ or the wages and benefits we use to compensate our hard working team."

They won't cut positions. The staff will have to make sacrifices only to be treated like shit and have MCPS ignore the timeline to reinstate wages, just like last time.

Compensation costs are growing faster than revenues so expect this dynamic to continue indefinitely

I totally support taking that away and it's bizarre that it is not but it is also a tiny drop in the bucket. You can probably find a few million in obvious waste like this, I wish they would do that, but the shortfall is much, much larger than that and is primarily due to compensation increases.

"10 Executive Staff Chief (1.0000) (264,855)"

Is that Essie McGuire's job on the chopping block?

You can't expect to increase compensation costs by more than what revenue is increasing every year and not have to make cuts. This is just basic math.

The only thing being cut from the Equity department is a measley $25,000 contract? Is Taylor serious?

What a stupid thing to say. So many wealthy kids in MoCo have college counselors--they don't have them because they're trying to go to community college.

If they cut wages and benefits from SEIU staff, many would leave. Wages are very low as it is and if we get our benefits cut, I would leave in a heartbeat.

Keep scrolling. There's a 1,175,930 cut for the equity add-on.
