College of the Holy Cross?

Holy Cross checks a lot of boxes for families looking for good outcomes. Normal outgoing social kid vibe.

So wrong. Bates is well above HC, not even in the same league.

The HC booster in here needs to get some self esteem. It's a good school, a very good school even, but there are many in New England that have more prestige. Can't you leave it at that?

The HC booster is so insecure, it's embarassing.

Bates is a woke school with tiny endowment less than $450 million in 2024 much smaller than Bowdoin, Colby, and Holy Cross. It has a very liberal vibe nothing like the other 3. Know a few Colby grads and not much overlap with Bates. Amazing that Bates does not have men’s or women’s varsity hockey especially for a Maine school.

Holy Cross has more prestige can’t think of one famous Bates grad. Bowdoin>Colby/Holy Cross>Bates.

How can a Maine school not have hockey? Must be an interesting reason.

What does fame have to do with anything

^by that logic UMass is better than Harvard. The Ivies, Duke, Stanford, and Williams are elite because of great academics, prestige-famous grads, large endowments, and graduating people into high profile positions. Bowdoin has famous grads, say what you will about HC but they have produced a lot of famous/accomplished people. Bates has not and for a NESCAC school to have an endowment less than $500 million is embarrassing.

Holy Cross is in a sweet spot for top LACs with location close to Boston. In non peak times can make it there in less than an hour. Put it at 20-25 range for SLACs.

Agree with PP, Holy Cross is the go to SLAC for kids going to senior executive positions in Corporate Anerica. Facts matter look at the top 100 Consumer based Companies and HC has more than the Williams Amherst crowd that focuses on Wall Street. Grads from Swarthmore, Wesleyan and Hamilton are not the C suite feeders. Holy Cross has a 75 year proven track record and reputation in corporate boardrooms.

Carleton and Middlebury have higher alumni giving rates than Amherst.

So Holy Cross had the 6th highest alumni giving rate in 2023. They have improved their giving rate significantly in 2025 believe HC is neck and neck with Princeton for the top spot.

One key to HC success with grads in C suite Jobs is Holy Cross offers an accounting major. Kids with that degree often start with a Big National CPA firm than get recruited into CFO roles. Doubt many other SLACs offer accounting. Kids with an accounting degree from a top liberal arts school are in high demand.

HC is a niche top 20 liberal arts vibe with non woke vibe. Moderate poltical atmosphere with good mix of liberals and conservatives. Not often seen on NE SLACs. Very prepofessionsl with tremendous pre-med program. By no means a nerd school.
