Marylanders: Did you regret not choosing Virginia when it came time to apply to college?

Soccer is a minor sport in the United States period. The Lacrosse finals draw crowds of 30000+ soccer about 5000. Basketball and Football are the only major sports and Va cant compete in those venues. Just like they can't invent anything except mayhem and death incidents.

Rhodes Scholarships are just a buddy system raquet. No truely great american has ever won one...its just an indication that you follow orders perfectly and study alot. Example 47 Uva students have been rhodes scholars....0 Uva students have invented or created anything useful.

Soccer is a major college sport. It's played in every state and every division.
There are over 24 D1, 18 D2 and 41 CONFERENCES that support soccer. There are a ton of junior college programs too. Major college sports are not defined by attendance at a final. They are defined by the number of schools and players. It's a major college sport. It's bigger than football. Not by dollars but by numbers.

Lacrosse is microscopic. If there are 30,000 at the final 29,000 are from Maryland. The rest are from New York and New Jersey. From Wiki again: As of the 2009-10 academic year, there were 60 NCAA sanctioned Division I men's lacrosse teams, 37 Division II men's lacrosse teams and 166 Division III men's lacrosse teams. That's teams not conferences. There are probably more gymnastics teams in the NCAA. Way more volleyball teams

No question UVa has down graded their basketball and football programs in favor of graduation rates. UMd continues to exploit the underprivledged and to have dismal graduation rates to fund their overall athletic program. So the lacrosse and field hockey teams can thank the guys who don't get an education for their uniforms, fields, etc.

UVa has made many useful contributions. You only know about UMd and what you know is often wrong e.g. school majors, Barcodes, Doppler Radar, etc.

Uva is so desparate to win in lacrosse that they recruit thugs and murderers. Umd even beats them at being preppy and decent human beings as well!

In fact, you know you're a Terp if...you think lacrosse is major college sport
you think a Rhodes Scholar is a street paver on getting free tuition
you think invented the internet with Al Gore
you think Academy Awards are a sign of whatever...
you think graduation rates are for weenies

Anonymous wrote:Check your sources..typical Uva using wiki as a source. Why did you leave out Sergi Brin and Jime Henson...Oh I know why. check out George Laurer on goodle (universal price code baby). If you only count the largest sports then Uva still loses since they have zero national championships in football or basketball. plus they have fewer nobels, pulitzers and academy awards. And they have zero impact on modern life. I think the country would gladly do away with Uva is it was between Uva and having to give up The Muppets, Seinfeld, Pulse Dopplar radar (harry Smith), mini insulin pumps, imbedded defibulators, the universal price code, watergate investigation,Google, Boondocks, jumbotron, octane system, frequent flyer systems, hybrid engines, outback steakhouse, linear programming, under armour etc...so-on and so forth. I'm not going to elaborate on the Virginia culture of death incidents other than to say they are probably the worst and most horrible incidents that have ever occured on any campus in america.

You know you're a cavalier when...
1) You want so bad to win in lacrosse that you recruit thugs and murderers and then when Umd wins 20 mens and womens national titles with nice people you try to act like you don't care.
2) you call yourself an "academic village" while people who go to Harvard and MIT don't say anything of the type about their schools and look at you like you are delusional.
3) say "Uva has made many useful contributions" without being able to name any and deep inside knowing that Umd wipes you out with just 'The Muppets" not to mention Google and the rest.

Saint Mary's is awesome.

Love St. Mary's College of Maryland. It has a beautiful waterfront campus, great professors, and a real community feeling. I definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't been there.
