| I am collecting unemployment for 5 months now. Been looking for job but nothing works out. My previous boss called me for a temporary job(6weeks only) twice a week. 8 hours a day. My question is since this is only 2 times a week. Will I still get full unemployment benefits or they will cut it off? I wanted to work but if they will discontinue my benefits then maybe not anymore since i wont be getting much on the temp job. And considering its only for 6 weeks. Thanks in advance! |
| Unemployment is administered by individual states (the state you worked in, not the state where you leave). I know that Maryland reduces benefits for part-time work, but doesn't cut them off altogether. |

DC will likely cut your benefits altogether.
And, you need to be employed for three months before you're eligible for new benefits. It's a lousy system that actually discourages people from doing what little work they can find. But there's no guarantee that you'd be able to continue your benefits after your temporary part-time gig is up. And then you're really screwed. I would decline. |
| I believe that MD will decrease your unemployment payments by the amount you are paid for temporary work. You will need to contact the DLLR to make sure, but I believe that was in the documentation that I got when I was unemployed, but that was 2009, so my memory may not be accurate. |
In DC your benefits would be reduced and if you make too much, stopped altogether, but assuming you still have time left to collect UE benefits, they'd resume after you finish your 6-week gig once you reopen your case. |
I think that's incorrect. I researched DC benefits before realizing my benefits would be from MD, and noted that while DC benefits are lower, they were more flexible. |
