| I am accustomed to ellipticals machines at the gym and am considering purchasing one for home use. I'm told it's hard to get a "quality" elliptical machine without spending a lot of money. Is that true? Does anyone have any suggestions - for an elliptical, or otherwise? |
| i gave up on trying to find one for the house that wasn't $2000 or huge. got a bicycle instead. working for me to vary things...bike at home, elliptical at the gym. |

Thanks, 1237. I'm okay with it being relatively large (although not ideal) but the pricetag scares me. $2000 is actually less than I thought you'd say- did you try out ones in this range?
I like the idea of having a machine at home and then variety at the gym, but I haven't ever really cliqued with anything but a elliptical and don't want to shell out money for something I might not love... |
| We bought one at Costco for $600 or thereabouts. It's pretty sturdy after a year, and still works great. It's also large, but folds up smaller if need be. I also loved my elliptical at the gym, and this one has exceeded my expectations! |
| I have an awesome one that I bought brand new for 700 bucks from dicks sporting goods. I use it almost everyday and its held up great. |
So do we. It's a Livestrong (Damn you, Lance). I really wanted a Sole brand one (the display shows more), but the Livestrong was a bit cheaper around $600 on clearance. Both brands have a few levels of models around $800-1500 and get great reviews (search for elliptical machine reviews online, there's a treadmill site that reviews them all). |
| We really like our Schwinn 430. Held up well so far over 3 years. We got it from amazon. |
| Pp here. It was 600 or 700. I see the 430 is now discontinued, but there is likely something similar. |
PP here, mine is Livestrong too. |
