Bringing dog to Delaware beach rental?

Anonymous
Hi all, I'm trying in vain to figure out how to rent a beach house for 1 or 2 weeks next summer in Bethany Beach, maybe Rehoboth, AND bring my small dog. What's the secret? All the established rental agencies that I can find online clearly say "No Pets (at any of our properties)".

Have any of you ever brought your dog to a Delaware beach town, and if so, where did you rent? How did you find the place?

I would probably try to find something that's not rented through an agency--try Craig's list or just ask around. You may want to post to the listserv too. When we used to go with our cousins to the beach in NC they brought their dog--the rental was a word of mouth find that they'd used for years.
There's got to be a website out there that's about vacationing with pets...

Agree with PP. You think it is tough with a small dog? Try getting someone to let you have your 100lb dog!

I have found things through Craigslist - I will admit sometimes I take something off the beach front in order to bring the dog. Just remember to check out the rules about which beaches and what times dogs are allowed on or near them if at all- it is very slim through summer.

There are several "by owner" rental sites - have not looked at the Delaware one, but have seen many that allow pets in other areas, might be worth checking out - I think one is www.vacationrentals.com, one I think is www.vrbo.com (or something that stands for vacation rentals by owner, so you could just google that to find it if that's not right)

Try www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) -- we found a rental in Bethany last summer that allowed us to bring our 70 lb dog for a small extra fee. I actually just started searching again for this summer and, although the vast majority don't allow pets, there are several to be found that do. Also, call some of the agencies as a few do have some rental properties that allow dogs (and you're much more likely to have success with a small dog then a big dog) -- try Seacoast Realty. Good luck!
