Anyone have a third child in your forties?

Anonymous
The other thread about maternal age got me curious. We have two kids and are considering a third, although DH and I are both in our forties. Anyone out there who went ahead with a third child despite being older? Any words of wisdom/reassurance? (I might be naive, but I'm assuming that conception won't be an issue because we had no difficulty conceiving either time before--although of course we were younger then--so I don't mean reassurance about conception issues, but rather just about the general issues of being older with a third--i.e., energy level, fears over something going wrong, being the oldest one in the playgroup, concerns about never being able to get back in the workforce, etc.) Thanks in advance.

We did. Conception did turn out to be an issue, but in the end we did not need help with that. Otherwise, no problems and very happy we did.

Yes, I'm expecting #3 in a few weeks. The pregnancy has been uneventful up to this point (cross my fingers). I'm not too worried about the whole parenting aspect, my parents were both well into their forties when I came along (I was their fourth child). In addition, my sister had a daughter in her forties. I guess my family is just hooked on advanced maternal age pregnancies!

Yes I was 41. I got pregnant the first month we tried. I was sick and tired and miserable the whole time. Not sure if that was age related or just that pregnancy. The baby though was very healthy and beautiful!

all that you cite are true and have been concerns since the 4 years that he was born. i am especially sensitive to all the young moms out there (assume they are all named jennifer????). The juggling is hard with 3 active kids. I kept my job too.

good luck!
