Discharge Question... does it mean anything?

Anonymous
I am 7 weeks pregnant and have had dark brownish-red thick discharge for about a week. It comes and goes. Does this mean anything or should I get to the dr before my scheduled appt? I have had back pain and slight cramps here and there but nothing horrible. Has anyone else had this? I also feel swollen like I am 5 months along, not a few weeks.

This sounds like a question for your doctor. If you call and talk to the doctor or a nurse they should be able to let you know whether it is necessary for you to come in before your regularly scheduled appointment.

I had some pale menstrual looking discharge initially up to week 10 and read that it happened when the "blastocyst" (the newly fertilized egg) attached to the wall of the uterus. However, you should call your doc's office for peace of mind purposes.

Good luck! I am sure it's ok.

The PP is right, you should call your doctor. I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and had some spotting (old dark brown blood) at about 5 to 6 weeks along with some cramping. I called my OB and he had me go in for a sono. Everything turned out fine, we saw the blastocyst and a heartbeat. I also found out at the time that I had (have) a large cyst on my left ovary.

Each pregnancy/person is different and I would suggest to call your OB on Monday and schedule an appt.

Best of luck!

Definitely call your doctor! I had spotting from 6 weeks to 17 weeks, including two nerve-wracking episodes of heavy bleeding. Turns out it was a subchorionic hemmorrage, or bleeding from the uterine wall. But the baby was fine the whole time and growing right on schedule. Apparently this kind of bleeding is not that unusual, and most pregnancies continue right through it, but I know how much it helped me to have those ultrasounds to see that the baby was still fine, and to have the reassurance from the doctor. Hopefully you are just having a bit of implantation spotting, but you will feel much better knowing for sure!

sounds like it could be implantation bleeding, if its rather light, brownish, doesnt turn bright red and goes away, but definitely have OB check it out,,,put your feet up, relax and let that little baby nestle in there!~ good luck
