Depends a lot on how deep you are in Tysons. We drive a child to a school from upper McLean thru Crystal City to N. Alexandria every day and it is - astonishingly - a breeze. But we get immediately on George Washington Parkway and zip all the way down (no lights), zip thru the airport, turn right and take the road running west into Crystal City. From there we go down Jefferson Davis Hwy to his school. 23 min. door to door. But we use the George Wash. Parkway exclusively and you must leave at 6:40. Once you hit 7 a.m., forget it - it's bumper to bumper. And I leave N. Mclean via parkway at 3:00 p.m. and do the same drive - one stoplight - pick him up at 3:30 and zip right back up the parkway. I have never hit a traffic jam yet. But if you are more buried into Tysons than we are and need to use I-66, I can't answer your question. But I can tell you the G.W. Parkway at those times is perfect.
