Were you expecting that the attorneys adhered to the requirements of the local rules? They couldn’t even be bothered to prepare a summons of file a proper complaint invoking the court’s subject matter jurisdiction over a “miscellaneous” proceeding. |
Again— you haven’t laid out a coherent legal theory about why FPOTUS can keep government records from the current administration if the current administration asks for them. Because he cannot — unless Congress changes the law. |
Fap around and find out. |
Exactly, so arguments about TROs are irrelevant. A TRO motion has specific requirements because it is ex parte, including an affidavit showing irreparable harm (and judge has to find that) as well as reasonable efforts to notify the defendant. Trump could not possibly meet these requirement after waiting two weeks after the search to do anything at all, and they didn't even try. A TRO also usually requires posting a bond. |
| This isn’t a game. Cassandra is all worn out over here—the sky is indeed falling, piece by piece. He is continuing to systematically weaken all of our institutions and the Republican Party is in a trance. |
| He’s demanded to “be declared” (by whom?) the president. I mean this isn’t even remotely funny anymore. It’s terrifying. |
So why keep arguing about Executive Privilege if it makes no difference? PP and others keep saying EP is not settled, but Trump is arguing for EP as justification for having the documents. What is PP’s point? EP is irrelevant. |
This. The PP you are responding too thinks he’s being clever. No one cares about his privilege because it has zero effect. None. He is no longer the president and he doesn’t get to keep official records from the current administration. The end. |
It’s been terrifying for years; where he was headed wasn’t exactly a secret. The GOP is doing nothing to stop this; they just send out talking points to their flying monkeys. |
| Do you think maybe some of the stuff in the boxes is explicit re/the attempted coup and that’s why he is going insane? What kinda records did he forget to burn on the way out the door… are there some phones in there? Maybe some missing text messages. Could be anything! |
Anything related to 1/6 is gone. Even Meadows was burning documents in a fireplace in the day of infamy. Trump continues to be fixated on “Russiagate” and I would expect much of the material relates to Crossfire Hurricane and Russian interference (Stone and Manafort) with some “perfect phone call” Ukraine stuff thrown in for good measure. I also would expect material Trump thought would be useful bargaining chips for future dealings with the likes of the Russians, Saudis or Emiratis, all of whom he perceived as having allied interests. Plus a smattering of North Korea intelligence, which is where Trump thought he could build a beach resort. This all assumes some degree of rationality on the part of the actor, so who really knows? But it’s fun to engage in wild speculation as a parlor game. |
Well I’m tired of games. |
What is the GOP supposed to do? They cant stop him. |
You’re kidding right? I can’t even tell anymore. |
Yes they can. They can stop enabling him. GOP Senators can stop to saying things like there will be riots if Trump is indicted. GOP Governors can stop saying things like a valid FBI search is "the weaponization of a federal agency" and stop referring to our legitimate government as "the regime." |
