Stocking the cupboards in the event of a pandemic in the USA

Question: why wouldn’t you be able to get your groceries in two weeks or four weeks? What scenario are you imagining? The grocery store will close? My! That would be some outbreak. Remember folks, most cases are mild. Hording supplies and stockpiling just fuels unnecessary panic.

Unfortunately, my faith in our current leadership is minimal. I have done the best I can to protect my family. God help us all!

the issue with a virus is that there's an incubation period where lots of people are walking around feeling healthy or just having a mild cold but they are still highly contagious. If we end up in a quarantine there's little food access and it's risky to go to stores.

I've been meaning to assemble an emergency kit for any number of emergicies so this is a good excise

This title made me laugh. Of course the most obese nation in the world is worried about running out of food.

The bigger issue is what will all of the Starbucks addicts do? God forbid they should have to drink regular coffee at home.

Single serve Starbucks French roast

Drone delivery NOW.

Use the same mind frame as you were going to spend a winter inn a log cabin with nothing within 3000 miles, and no hunting, no gathering.

Or like you are going to live on a desert island, whatever you bring with you , you might need to live of...minus coconuts, birds, fish, monkeys..

Imagine pre-snowpocalypse shopping. i bought literally two items for cough and cold, and the rest are reasonable items for not being able to grocery shop for 1-2 weeks.

I keep fever reducers on hand for kids who can’t sleep at night or are completely miserable.

With this thing the lower the fever the faster and stronger it grows an d can turn into pneumonia. Life threathening fever warrants lowerng but otherwise fever seems the stronger protection against this overtaking the system.

Source?

Ask any doctor.

Link to peer-reviewed medical journal that supports this?

(And I don’t treat fevers unless the kid is miserable but I’ve never, ever heard a doctor recommend this.)

DP. I thought this was common knowledge.

Perhaps, but not scientifically sound.

Personally, I only treat a fever if the child can’t sleep at night or is completely miserable.

I’m not doing anything to prepare but to be fair, I can see people being worried about being stuck at home or deliveries not coming in or even Caring for sick people at home and buying nonperishables that will last: tp, Beans, etc

Clorox wipes kill 99.9% viruses and bacteria. I have 6 packs of Clorox wipes and I ordered bleach in some fresh linen scent just to be safe. I guess if you buy bleach which is scented the smell issue should be tolerable.

On another note just went to McLean Giant, they are completely out of bleach, antibacterial soap and hand sanitizers. I did stock up 3 weeks back but I didn’t think situation will get so dire.

We were at Costco last night and bought some of the Clorox wipes. Half their palette was gone and more than half of the Kirkland ones were gone. I imagine they won’t last until Saturday. Spray Lysol was sold down, too.

I thought clorox wipes don’t kill coronovirus? They aren’t bleach and the antiseptic they use doesn’t inactive it

I believe Clorox wipes have been shown to kill other corona viruses, but they don't have a definitive test, yet, since this one is new.

So Clorox and Lysol likely work, but purell is not aloud to make similar claims. News to me! (But I have always preferred soap and water.)
