School district for conservative family (VA)

Really? Most of our military community are supportive of a woman's right to choose. I wouldn't assume that most military in this area have the same set of values that the OP's friend is looking for. There are plenty of gay people in the military, too.

Hopefully you got some good suggestions and info OP.

We are conservatives and our 3 kids attend a fairly liberal public school district. Most parents and teachers are very reasonable (not overtly political) and focus on the most important thing: strong education for the kids. Our school board is a bit loony, but that doesn’t have much effect on the day-to-day.

However, we don’t discuss politics in public and generally teach our kids the same (our kids high school and middle school age). Most families seem similar.

Military is hardly synonymous with “conservative.” Certainly not the brand of conservative OP is describing.

The military is a pretty woke place and radical political displays such as March for Life will be out-of-step with mainstream values of people living in a military community.

I work at the Pentagon. Most of the people I work with are fairly conservative (not MAGA conservative, but rather traditionally conservative). If OP wants true family values, I agree with these communities. If she wants MAGA, then she needs to move to McLean.

Enlisteds are conservative. Especially Air Force, ugh. Officers generally aren't because of their level of education. Being around the military is no guarantee that you'll be in the presence of forced birthers and homophobes like OP wants.

Hate to break it to you, but there are many educated military officers who are also conservative. They probably won’t discuss their views in front of you, but they’re there.

Seriously. PP has it the other way around. Enlisted are liberal. Officers are conservative.

Thanks, I got lots of very helpful info. Are you in Virginia or Maryland? I am just curious. We are not conservative, but even I sometimes feel like there is too much wokeism at MCPS. I overheard my DC talking to their friend the other day. Friend said “I am so tired of all the LGBT talk. I think I know more about LGBT than any other subjects at this point..” This made me chuckle, because DC’s friend comes from very liberal family. I honestly think MCPS are overdoing it. And sometimes parents get carried away too.

OP- where did your friend end up? I'm currently in MCPS and while we're not attending the March for Life, it's a bit too blue for me here (e.g., in a recent conversation with a daycare parent, she decried the "heteronormative stereotypes" of Golden Books-- a pretty typical viewpoint here).

So far as Loudoun goes your best bet in terms of community and schools is in western Loudoun county particularly anywhere zoned for Harmony MS/Woodgrove HS. But I’m not sure how this would work out with your husband’s commute. There are many people who live out there and make long commutes it all depends on exact locations hours etc.

Suck it up and pay for Catholic school if indoctrination into regressive values is importantly to you. But be careful, some Catholic schools actually teach loving all people and living Christ’s word - very woke.
