Won't the AA ruling be particularly bad for private school URMs?

Getting subsidies from everyone else just because of their pigment. 150 points lower SAT. Half a point lower GPA! And get to go to the front of the line. Hit the road. Merit is back.

Tell that to all the kids getting admitted because they're legacies.

Not always.

A Latina adopted by white people with the last name of Smith is just one example when a school wouldn’t figure it out from name alone.

Right. But in her essays she can write about the hardships of growing up Latina in a white world. Or she can mention the good fortune of being adopted by a US family from a poor Latin country. Etc…

Hardships? Because she’s Hispanic?
Puhleez.

Hispanic? Leave it to you to use a term central to colonialism. Says a great deal about you.

Such a bizarre response. The term is used by tons of affinity groups by Hispanics themselves.

National Association of Hispanic Journalists

National Association of Hispanic Nurses

Used basically interchangeably with Latino… yes I’m aware technically Latino includes Brazil but not Spain while Hispanic is the reverse.

You seem to forget that the SAT is inherently racist against kids of color and that lower GPAs come from discrimination (being left out of study groups, etc).

Why? They didn’t practice their multi-syllabic free vocab flashcards like everyone else did?

+1 Perhaps a title about how racism isn't dead...as evidence by the racist underbelly that comes out when people can hide behind their computers.

It will be even more effective if you are a member of Jack and Jill. Or if you’re not. Or if you feel oppressed because you are. Or you aren’t.

Some schools will never ban legacy-Notre Dame is one I can think of. And why should they? Most kids nowadays are heads and shoulders above their parents in terms of qualifications to be there-and legacy money and donations always will play a role in the equation. Yale also is resistant to banning legacies.
