One night at Omni Bedford Springs?

Anonymous
We're trying to find somewhere to go for one night (Sunday) this weekend that is within 3 hours of DC. We wanted to go to Shenandoah so we could go hiking but the places we like are booked. Would a night at the Omni in Bedford Springs be fun for my kids (ages 3, 8, 10)? Is there good hiking nearby? Good food?

Thanks.

We did a weekend there (no kids) about three years ago and it was great. The food was very good, and we enjoyed the spa. Even without the spa treatments, the indoor pool is terrific and your kids would probably love that. There are easy walking trails just across the front drive from the hotel, and they have a big fire pit outside for s'mores after dinner. I don't know about longer hikes, but if you're only going for one night, that might not matter. It's a lovely place.

I was there for a night 2 falls ago. it is a nice spot and not too long a drive so if you go early you can make a weekend of it. I didn't hike but their materials mentioned Blue Knob (the ski area) as an activity so it may not be too far from there.
