Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| Any good recommendations for push-toys for a 9 month old who crawls and stands and appears to be itching to learn to walk? |

The ride-on toys are great for this. Something like this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2538534
My daughter got one for her first birthday, but got it about a month early. She held onto the handle in the back and pushed it. Now she sits on it and scoots around the house, pushing with her feet. Even my three year old likes to ride it. |
| I asked for a few for my sons first birthday - word got around and we got 3 - all are really godd but a few can be altered to be push - pull and ride on toys - they have maintained interest the best |

Radio Flyer Classic Walker Wagon!
http://www.amazon.com/Radio-Flyer-Classic-Walker-Wagon/dp/B00005AWB5/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1199421311&sr=8-4 My kids enjoyed theirs, and we just passed it down to my 9-month-old niece. When we brought it out, she held right on and pushed it across the room. She's been using a walker extensively but was crazy about this wagon--much more like walking. It's weighted so it can't tip backwards and doesn't get too far ahead of them. (The worst that can happen is that they go down on their knees and then it stops.) It's expensive ($80.00) but very well designed and very sturdy. At 4.5 and 2.5 my kids were no longer using it much (since it's pretty heavy and takes up space), but it was still in great condition so the resale possibility seems pretty high. |
| Thanks all -- that radio flyer looks fab! |
DS got the iPlay ride-on airplane for his first birthday and he is atill playing with it 6 mos later. Your DC may be a little young for it at 9 mos, but good to keep in mind for the future. It lights up, plays music, "propeller" spins, etc. Very cute. You can ride on or push it w/the bar in the back, which DS does when he puts his stuffed animals on it.
