| I am spending the night at the Ritz with DH for my birthday. I want to have a nice dinner out that we can walk to. I made a reservation at the Blue Duck, but it's for 5:45 (either that or 9pm, too late for me). I am not really loving the early bird time slot! Does anyone else have any other neighborhood recommendations? Should I just order room service (it's our first night away from the kids together in 5 years). |
| Blue Duck is very worth it...at either of those times! Ris can be a plan B. |

When will it be? What about Tabard Inn? That's walkable, but you may not be able to get a res depending on how soon it is. You could also walk to Restaurant Nora. Other suggestions (don't know how quiet/romantic/not casual you want so I'm just throwing things out here):
Restaurant Nora Pesce Hank's Oyster Bar Bistrot du Coin Go to Open Table and you can search for restaurants in the Dupont area and their table availability. I wouldn't do room service (unless there's something about that that really appeals to you ). Go out!

| Great, thanks for the tips! |
| West End Bistro. Kinkeads. |

We just went for a celebratory dinner right there - Westend Bistro downstairs. The chicken dumpling soup was amazing (not at all what I had mentally expected - it was the presentation where the parts are in the bowl and they pour the broth on top. and it was goooood.)
You're also just a block from Rasika, which is supposed to be fantastic. |
| I second the new Rasika. I also like Ris. |

RIS is fantastic
Rasika books up very quickly |
| Ris is the most underrated resto in dc, IMO. LOVE. Also recommend Rasika. |
I agree that Ris is really good, and can't figure out why it hasn't gotten more press. Have not been to Rasika West End yet, but the original is some of the best food in DC. Also like West End Bistro. |
| Marcel's |
| OP here. I cancelled Blue Duck. RIS looks great- I love the look of the small plates. I am glad I took the time to ask. |
| Westend Bistro is fabulous, too. Grab a drink at their bar if you get a chance. |
