Bum rap for Palin

Anonymous
Before we get into a misleading connection between Palin and an anti-semitic writer who died 40 years ago (Westbrook Pegler), let me note that she used this quote from him: "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty and sincerity and dignity," Clearly that has nothing to do with any religious prejudice. If a speechwriter pulled it out of Bartlett's Quotations and did not research all of Pegler's views, I don't think Palin should be held accountable. Unfortunately, Huffington Post (whose politics I generally share) headlined: Palin Quoted Anti-Semite In Convention Speech.

I feel pretty secure that the Obama campaign will not smear her with this charge, and will defend her from his own supporters if they follow Huffington. This despite McCain's scurrilous accusations of Obama smear jobs that do not exist. However, I expect that if the positions were reversed, Steve Schmidt would have a McCain ad jumping on it immediately. In fact, in addition to my prediction that Obama will discourage such attacks or implications, I predict that McCain's people will accuse Obama of fomenting them.

To the republicans on here, I apologize in advance if I am wrong. It's not that I think Reps are inherently less fair than Dems, it's just that we have seen Steve Scmidt's Rovian tactics.
